The Batang–Semarang Toll Road is increasingly cementing its role as the main ‘nerve centre’ of Central Java.

This 75-kilometre stretch has demonstrably cut travel time drastically, turning journeys that were once arduous into considerably more efficient ones.

The time savings of more than 50 percent have become an important catalyst, not only for local mobility in Kendal, Batang, and Semarang, but also for the national logistics supply chain traversing Java.

Behind the smooth flow of traffic, the Kalikangkung Barrier Toll Gate (GT) plays a vital role.

As a major gateway in the Trans-Java network, Kalikangkung serves as a traffic control hub, especially during peak periods such as Eid al-Fitr travel or long holidays.

“As one of the main gateways, the Kalikangkung Barrier plays a strategic role in supporting traffic management during periods of high mobility. We strive to ensure road users’ journeys remain smooth and safe through adequate infrastructure,” said Ria, on Friday (6 March 2026).

Beyond logistics, the increasingly interconnected network is beginning to impact the tourism sector.

Quick access to the northern coastal areas of Batang and Kendal, as well as mountain tourism around Semarang, is now easier for travellers from both the west and east to reach.

Ria stressed that PT JTT is committed to maintaining service quality on the segment managed by PT Jasamarga Semarang Batang (JSB). She noted that reliable infrastructure is the foundation for regional economic growth.

With travel time increasingly shortened, the toll is expected to continue reducing national logistics costs and to provide a sense of security for millions of motorists passing through each year.
