Batang Regency Transforms Gringsing District into a Supporting Hub for KITB
Batang (ANTARA) — The Batang Regency Government in Central Java is set to transform Gringsing District into a supporting zone capable of sustaining the acceleration of industrial growth in the area, particularly since the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB) began operations.
Batang Regent Faiz Kurniawan said in Batang on Monday that the concept of the Gringsing New Town is not limited to residential development.
He said the regional government is designing the area as a self-sufficient city equipped with various public facilities, ranging from green open spaces and markets to terminals and other supporting infrastructure.
“In essence, we are targeting Gringsing District to become a new city going forward,” he said.
According to him, the regency has drawn up the concept and master plan and submitted them to the central government to secure support.
“Yes, the response from the Ministry of Public Works (PU) to this proposal has been positive. We have been asked to promptly prepare the detailed engineering design (DED), then the RPIK, up to the master plan,” he said.
He said these technical planning documents will serve as the basis for the central government to determine which development programmes will be supported.
The development of Gringsing, he said, has a strong policy foundation, as the project is a follow-up to the directives of the 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), which places Batang Regency among the 50 national priority cities in the industrial city category.
“In addition, Gringsing’s location within the KEK Industropolis Batang area — a transformation of the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KIT) — adds to the strategic value of this zone as a supporter of industrial activity,” he said.
He said the regency is targeting completion of the new urban area by 2029, in line with the RPJMN period.
“At present, the regional government is also proposing a budget of around Rp100 billion for the initial arrangement of the area next year, which will be focused on building basic infrastructure such as roads,” he said.
