PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang has affirmed its strategic steps to strengthen the national industrial ecosystem. This is being carried out through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of a rail-based dryport in the Batang Industropolis Special Economic Zone (SEZ), on Tuesday (21/4/2026). The collaboration involves several entities, namely PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), PT Sarana Pembangunan Jawa Tengah (Perseroda), and Perumda Aneka Usaha Kabupaten Batang. The area was previously designated as a Special Economic Zone with a focus on the distribution and logistics sectors. The development of this rail-based dryport is designed to reinforce the zone’s role in building an integrated logistics ecosystem. Amid the growing need for supply chain efficiency and industrial connectivity, the facility is positioned as the backbone of logistics that connects the industrial zone more effectively with sea port networks and land distribution. The facility is targeted to significantly reduce distribution costs and transit times. With direct connectivity to rail transport and the port ecosystem, the dryport is also expected to reduce dependence on road-based transportation. This step simultaneously promotes the formation of a more efficient and competitive national logistics system. Along with the growth of the zone and increasing market demand, its capacity has the potential to reach up to 1,000,000 TEUs. The presence of this facility is projected to become one of Indonesia’s strategic inland logistics nodes, particularly in strengthening connectivity between industrial areas in Central Java and major national ports as well as global trade networks. The development of the dryport is also part of a cross-sector collaborative approach.
