Batang Industrial Estate Development to Accelerate Investor Relocation to Indonesia
PT PP (Persero) Tbk President Director Novel Arsyad stated his readiness to support the government's efforts to provide potential land for investors. "The establishment of this small team will accelerate the comprehensive area assessment process we are currently undertaking. Ultimately, it will speed up the land preparation process," Novel said.
He continued that the area development would adopt the concept of "The Smart & Sustainable Industrial Estate". The development concept comprises three Basic Principles (Smart Society, Smart Environment and Infrastructure, and Smart Economy) and two Design Interventions (Smart Experience and Smart Planning).
The Batang Industrial Estate development is divided into three zones: a Light and Medium Industry Zone, an Innovation and Creative Economy Zone, and a Manufacturing and Logistics Zone.
"The provision of this industrial estate needs to be expedited. Apart from the seven companies that have confirmed their relocation to Indonesia, there are a further 17 companies currently being explored. Having an adequate industrial estate will facilitate efforts to attract these investors," he said.
To date, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has recorded a total investment value of US$850 million (approximately Rp11.9 trillion) from the seven relocating companies, with the potential to create 30,000 jobs. BKPM will continue to aggressively approach the 17 companies that have expressed their intention to relocate.
