Batam weather forecast for today, 6 March 2026, is dominated by thick cloud cover from morning to the early hours. According to the forecast from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Hang Nadim Batam Meteorological Station, most of Batam will experience heavy cloudiness throughout the day. From the morning, the skies over Batam are expected to be overcast with thick clouds that may persist into the afternoon and evening. A similar condition is predicted to continue through the night until the early hours.

The Hang Nadim Batam BMKG forecaster said the condition is influenced by the high humidity levels in the Riau Islands region, which support cloud formation in the atmosphere.

‘For Batam, the day is generally forecast to be overcast with thick clouds from morning to night. The humidity is high enough to support cloud formation in Batam and its surroundings,’ according to the Hang Nadim Batam BMKG forecaster, Friday (6/3).

In addition, the air temperature in Batam is expected to range from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius with relatively high humidity throughout the day.

Although the weather is dominated by thick clouds, the public is urged to remain vigilant for potential local weather changes, such as light rain that could occur at certain times.

BMKG also reminds the public, especially fishermen and users of sea transport, to monitor weather developments before engaging in activities at sea.

Meanwhile, several fishermen in Batam say they will continue to fish despite the overcast conditions. They note that such weather is still considered safe for sea activity as long as waves are not high.

One fisherman in the Batam coastal area, Saripudin, 45, said thick cloud cover is quite common and usually does not significantly disrupt fishing activities.

‘Though the clouds are heavy, it is usually safe to fish. The important thing is we keep an eye on wind and waves. If the waves are large, we usually choose not to go far from the shore,’ he said.

The public is advised to continue monitoring current weather information via official BMKG channels to receive accurate and timely weather forecasts. (H-4)
