The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class I Hang Nadim Batam has released the weather forecast for Batam today, 2 June 2026, along with early warnings regarding weather conditions in the Riau Islands (Kepri) region. A wind shear phenomenon has been observed around the Riau Islands, triggering an increased probability of rainfall.

Although the weather is generally dominated by cloudy conditions, several areas are likely to experience light to moderate rain. In addition to wind shear, high humidity in the upper layers of the atmosphere is accelerating the formation of convective clouds across the archipelago.

“This condition is supported by high humidity values in the upper atmosphere around the Riau Islands, which supports the growth of rain clouds,” stated BMKG Class I Hang Nadim Batam in its official statement on Tuesday.

According to BMKG data, average temperatures in the Riau Islands range between 25 and 31 degrees Celsius, with wind speeds between 4 and 19 kilometres per hour. Winds are predominantly blowing from the south towards the southeast, except for the Natuna region, where winds blow from the southwest.

Due to the potential for rapid rain cloud growth caused by convective activity, BMKG advises the public, particularly fishermen and maritime transport operators, to remain vigilant. The highest wind speeds are recorded in the Anambas Islands, reaching 19 km/h. The public is urged to continuously monitor weather updates through official BMKG channels before conducting outdoor activities or maritime voyages to anticipate sudden weather changes.
