Jakarta (ANTARA) - Danantara Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of services provided by state-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero), including PT PLN Batam, following a power supply disruption on 12 October 2026.

The effort will involve strengthening the company to improve electricity supply reliability, service quality and responsiveness to customers’ needs.

Danantara Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria apologised to PLN Batam customers for the inconvenience caused by the disruption, in a statement issued in Jakarta on Wednesday.

“On behalf of Danantara Indonesia, we apologise to all PLN Batam customers for the inconvenience caused by the power supply disruption on 12 October 2026. We understand the difficulties experienced by the public and businesses. Customers’ needs are our main concern, and we are committed to supporting PLN Batam in providing better services,” Dony said.

Improving PLN Batam’s service quality is part of Danantara’s commitment to supporting the sustainable transformation of the PLN Group.

The company’s development is geared towards improving supply reliability, making services more accessible and preparing to meet customers’ evolving needs.

“We see opportunities for PLN Batam to continue growing alongside the community and businesses. By developing the company’s capacity and improving service quality, we want PLN Batam to play an even greater role in supporting customers’ needs and the region’s progress,” Dony said.

In its business operations, PLN Batam follows an independent business model and receives no government subsidies or compensation. The company is seen as having potential to continue growing, given Batam’s position as one of Indonesia’s economic growth engines and an investment destination.

As part of its transformation and business development, PLN Batam will henceforth report directly to Danantara Indonesia. The move is intended to support the company’s growth potential, improve electricity services and increase the region’s investment appeal.

Danantara Indonesia is also refreshing PLN’s management as part of efforts to improve the quality of public services. The move is expected to strengthen the PLN Group’s performance and deliver electricity services that are more reliable and responsive to the needs of the public and businesses.

“Serving the public is our priority in strengthening the PLN Group. Through this management refresh, we want to ensure that people experience better services, from supply reliability to responsiveness to customer needs. We also want PLN to be better prepared to support business activities and economic growth across Indonesia,” Dony said.
