Batam optimistic of more new investors
BATAM, Riau: The Batam Authority expressed optimism that it
could attract some 60 new investors to invest in the industrial
island in the next four months.
Batam Authority chief Ismeth Abdullah disclosed that some 49
foreign investors had expressed their interest in investing in
the electronics industry with an investment of millions of U.S.
dollars.
He revealed that Batam currently had 560 foreign companies
with a total investment of US$8.8 billion and absorbed around
168,000 workers.
As many as 75 investors from Singapore from various lines of
business recently came to a business meeting jointly held by the
Batam Authority, Indonesian Business Association (IBAS) and
Singapore Polytechnic Graduate Guild (SPGG), to provide
businessmen with information on the island's potential. --Antara.
