Batam (ANTARA News) - Batam in Riau Islands has now a Capital Market Information Center as the only second level autonomous representative of PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (Indonesian stock exchange) in Indonesia.
"The choice fell on Batam city because many businesses are used to facing business risks. The information center is a means of businessmen to mitigate risks," Development Director of PT BEI Friderica Widyasari Dewi said during the inauguration by Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs of Riau Islands province Noraeda Mokhsen said in Batam on Wednesday night.
The Batam capital market information center is located in the Mahkota Raya shipping center, Batam, having facilities including a library, share information office, a hall for the training of prospective investors and for customer complaints.
Besides having PIMP experts, Batam can also be used as a place for consultations of companies wishing to go public, deputy chairman of Batam Investor Club Henry Wismanto said.
Batam-based private companies already gone public at BEI are PT Citra Tubindo and PT Satnusa Persada.
In Batam, Sangapore`s neighbor, there are eight security companies, namely Phillip Securities Indonesia, Trust Securities, BNI Sekuritas, Bhakti Investama Sekuritas, Mega Capital Indonesia, Valbury, Sinarmas Sekuritas, and Panin Securities.
Kip Eng Securities and Indo Premier will soon also join the eight companies in Batam.
Friderica said 66.5 pct of BEI`s sharingholding is still dominated by foreign companies.
Noraeda hoped the investors in Batam and Riau Islands will increase their participation in controling the shares at BEI. (*)
