Batam’s economic growth reached 7.49% in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to the Head of the Batam Concession Agency (BP Batam) and Mayor of Batam, Amsakar Achmad, during a hearing with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives. This performance reflects a positive trend in the city’s macroeconomic indicators, including investment realisation and a trade surplus.

Cumulatively, Batam’s growth for 2025 stood at 6.76%, higher than the national economic growth rate of 5.11%. The city’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) for 2025 was recorded at IDR 253.3 trillion.

Amsakar reported that investment realisation in Batam for 2025 reached IDR 44.01 trillion, a 72.83% increase from the IDR 25.46 trillion recorded in 2024. This figure also equates to 118.97% of the set target of IDR 36.9 trillion. The high realisation was notably supported by domestic investment (PMDN), which grew 125.86% above the 2025 target, while foreign investment (PMA) still managed a 47.81% growth despite a slowdown.

Entering 2026, Batam continued its positive investment performance, with realisation in the first quarter reaching IDR 17.4 trillion, a 102.85% increase against the target of IDR 8 trillion. The city’s trade balance also recorded a surplus of USD 1.96 billion throughout 2025, reflecting strong export activity.

In terms of financial governance, BP Batam successfully maintained an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) for the tenth consecutive time. As of 31 December 2025, the agency’s total assets increased by IDR 171.33 billion compared to 2024. BP Batam also recorded a 22.56% decrease in trade receivables, amounting to IDR 129.20 billion, while its budget surplus rose by 54.53% from IDR 855.23 billion to IDR 1.32 trillion. This increase in surplus is considered an important fiscal resource to support BP Batam’s programmes and activities in 2026.
