Batam DPRD Commission IV Investigates Operational Legality of Djuwita Prakarsa Foundation Playgroup
Commission IV of the Batam City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) convened a Public Hearing (RDPU) to gather information regarding the operations of the Djuwita Prakarsa Foundation Playgroup (KB) in Batam City. The meeting was held following public reports concerning alleged administrative issues and the legality of the early childhood education institution’s operations.
The RDPU, which took place in the Commission IV meeting room at the Batam City DPRD, was chaired by Commission IV Chairman Dandis Rajagukguk and attended by several council members and relevant parties. During the meeting, Commission IV summoned representatives from the Batam City Education Office, the Batam City Education Council, the Chairperson of the Djuwita Prakarsa Foundation, community representatives and parents of the students, as well as the No Viral No Justice Legal Aid Institute (LBH) to provide explanations and clarifications.
Commission IV Chairman Dandis Rajagukguk stated that the meeting aimed to obtain complete and balanced information from all parties before determining the next steps. “We are seeking to obtain clarification and find common ground on this issue,” Dandis said on Friday (19/6). According to him, every issue that arises in the community must be addressed objectively by listening to all involved parties. Therefore, the RDPU served as a forum to present data, documents, and statements related to the operations of the Djuwita Prakarsa Foundation Playgroup.
Dandis stressed that administrative and legal issues concerning educational institutions must not be allowed to drag on, as they involve compliance with regulations and public trust in the provision of education. “Most importantly, the interests of the students must remain the primary concern. This involves children and educational services,” he said.
Regarding authority, the Batam City Education Office was asked to explain aspects of its authority, supervision, and the provisions governing the implementation of early childhood education in Batam City. Meanwhile, the foundation was given the opportunity to present the institution’s operational conditions, including documents and statements related to the legality of the playgroup’s operation. Additionally, community representatives and parents conveyed their aspirations and concerns regarding the developing issue. Commission IV considered input from parents important to understand the impact on students and the teaching and learning process.
Dandis stated that the RDPU had not yet produced a final decision or conclusion. Commission IV will still study all the statements, input, and documents submitted during the meeting. “We will review all the information that has been presented before determining the next steps. All input will be taken into consideration by Commission IV,” he said. Commission IV hopes that the clarification process can provide certainty for all parties and ensure that the provision of early childhood education in Batam City operates in accordance with applicable regulations, thereby guaranteeing the right of students to receive safe and quality educational services.
