Batam’s Population and Civil Registry Office (Disdukcapil) has begun on-location electronic ID (KTP-el) recording for students under the Gaspol (Gerakan Aksi Pelayanan On Location) programme at schools. The Batam Disdukcapil staff said that recording activities are ongoing on Tuesday. ‘This year we have already visited around 16 high schools and SMK for KTP-el recording,’ Maya, the Data Utilisation and Service Innovation staff of Batam Disdukcapil, said.

Maya noted that the number of students registering differs by school, ranging from 20 to 70 students per day. ‘There are days with 20, 30, or even up to 70 children in a single day. If it isn’t finished, we will continue tomorrow and schedule again,’ she said.

All KTP-el recording services are provided free of charge to students. Afterwards, schools can collect the printed KTP the day after recording at the service office.

Meanwhile, the head of Disdukcapil Batam, Adisthy, said the agency remains committed to delivering the best service to the public, including outreach services for students. ‘We first coordinate with the Riau Islands Provincial Education Office to obtain data on state and private high schools that are the targets of the service,’ he said.

‘The recording will continue to run to ease for parents. So there is no need for school permission to manage their child’s KTP-el,’ Adisthy added.

According to him, the programme also aims to ensure the right of children to have a population identity is fulfilled on time. Adisthy added that schools can also apply for on-site recording service directly to Disdukcapil Batam if they have not yet received a visiting schedule. ‘If a school submits a letter, we will include it on the service list. But now it is indeed more because we are contacting the schools directly,’ he said. He noted that several schools in the city also regularly request recording services from Disdukcapil Batam every year.
