Batam Builds Rp 800 Billion Toll Road

TEMPO Interactive, Batam:To ensure efficiency of traffic serving the free trade zone in Batam, the local government will build a 25 kilometer-long toll road. “The feasibility study is has been completed. The project is valued at Rp 1 trillion,” said Batam Zone Management Agency (BPK-Batam), Ir Mustofa Wijaya at the Batam Authority Office yesterday.

Mustofa said the toll road will go through Batu Ampa - Muka Kuning, Muka Kuning to Simpang Kabil, and on to Hang Nadim Airport. The Batu Ampa - Muka Kuning toll road stretching about 15 kilometers will cost Rp 800 billion in investment. Meanwhile, the Muka Kuning toll road (Simpang Kabil) is 10 kilometer long.

The toll road construction is intended to provide easy access for vehicles bringing containers, especially from and to seaports in Batam Ampar and Hang Nadim Airport, Mustofa said. There are currently 457 industry importer companies and 386 trade importer companies.
