Batam bomb suspects still free
BATAM, Riau: Police have yet to arrest a Jakarta resident who was suspected of involvement in the Batam bombing on Christmas Eve last year, despite the fact that a box of ammunition was found in his rented house here.
Police sources said on Sunday about the suspect, identified only as Iw, that Batam police were still coordinating with West Java and Jakarta police to collect more evidence before arresting him.
The sources also said that a copy of Iw's ID Card (KTP) was also found by police. According to the ID card, Iw is a resident of Menteng, Central Jakarta.
On Dec. 24 of last year, bombs exploded in several churches in many areas in the country, including Batam.
The most serious blasts were in Bandung and Mojokerto, East Java, where more than five people were killed. -- Antara
