The development of the aesthetic industry in Indonesia is no longer concentrated solely in Jakarta. Increasing public interest in non-surgical treatments and modern beauty technology has encouraged various global innovations to expand into cities outside the capital, including Batam. This trend was marked by the launch of XERF by Cynosure Lutronic at Embba Beauty Clinic, Batam, on Thursday (11/6). The introduction of this latest generation skin tightening technology makes Embba Beauty Clinic the first clinic in Sumatra to adopt XERF, signalling the expansion of global aesthetic technology into the Sumatra region amid growing public demand for effective, technology-based beauty services with minimal recovery time. Prior to its arrival in Indonesia, XERF was introduced globally with the support of South Korean actress Park Shin Hye as its international brand ambassador. In Indonesia, the technology was introduced alongside Mikha Tambayong to broaden education regarding non-surgical skin tightening treatments. Vice President of idsMED Aesthetics Indonesia, Andy Rahardja, stated that the growth of the aesthetic industry in the Sumatra region shows increasing potential, particularly in the non-invasive treatment segment. He noted that Batam holds a strategic position as it not only serves the domestic market but also has the potential to attract patients from neighbouring countries, especially Singapore. XERF was developed by South Korean aesthetic technology company Cynosure Lutronic. The technology has received clearance from United States health authorities (FDA) and is designed as a non-surgical skin tightening solution that prioritises patient comfort. It uses a multi-frequency monopolar radio frequency (RF) system combining 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz frequencies, allowing energy to be delivered more precisely to target areas to help improve skin firmness. Head of Aesthetics at idsMED Indonesia, Marisa Theresia, observed that shifting consumer preferences are a key factor driving the adoption of the latest aesthetic technologies. Director of Embba Beauty Clinic, Bina, said the clinic has observed a steadily increasing public need for effective, comfortable, and minimally invasive aesthetic treatments in recent years. She added that Batam’s strategic position as a regional hub allows the clinic to serve not only patients from Batam and Sumatra but also those from Singapore seeking cutting-edge aesthetic solutions. The arrival of XERF in Batam reflects a changing landscape in the national aesthetic industry, where the latest beauty innovations are no longer confined to Jakarta but are expanding to other cities in response to growing public demand and regional market potential.
