Batam Airport: Several Flights Delayed as Visibility Falls
Batam (ANTARA) – PT Bandara Internasional Batam (BIB), in the Riau Islands, said several flights to and from Hang Nadim International Airport Batam (BTH) had been rescheduled or delayed because smoke haze had reduced visibility.
The president director of PT Bandara Internasional Batam, Annang Setia Budhi, said the schedule changes were caused by reduced visibility due to smoke haze affecting several areas of Sumatra.
“Today, Friday, 16 October 2026, several flights have been delayed,” he said in an official statement received in Batam on Friday.
The delays were as follows:
JT246 (PLM–BTH): 1 hour 44 minutes
JT239 (BTH–PKU): 2 hours 7 minutes
ID6863 (BTH–CGK): 1 hour 18 minutes
The airport’s operations and ground-handling teams have also carried out delay management in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Meanwhile, a pioneer flight operated by Susi Air on the Batam–Rengat route (return) was cancelled.
“The safety, security and comfort of all passengers are our top priorities in our operations. We thank all passengers for their understanding and co-operation,” Annang said.
He added that the airport would ensure airlines met their obligations to provide passenger compensation in accordance with the applicable regulations on handling delays.
The airport apologised to passengers for the inconvenience caused by the delays and cancellation.
“We urge all prospective passengers to check flight-status updates regularly through each airline’s official channels or the Customer Service desk at Hang Nadim International Airport Batam,” he said.
