Batam (ANTARA) - Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, Riau Islands, has prepared a dedicated customer service centre to assist passengers affected by flight cancellations resulting from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

Annang Setia Budhi, President Director of PT Bandara Internasional Batam (PT BIB), said the service has been available since the airport opened to ensure passengers receive clear information.

“We have set up customer service to handle refunds and rescheduling since the morning. So by the time passengers begin queuing, everything is already well organised. Passengers are no longer confused about where to go for a refund or how to contact the airline,” said Annang in Batam on Monday.

According to the latest update as of 11.30 WIB, there were 57 scheduled flights at Hang Nadim carrying a total of 7,947 passengers.

Of that number, 19 flights with 2,462 passengers were affected by volcanic ash on the Jakarta (CGK) route.

The breakdown comprises nine arrival flights and 10 departure flights that were cancelled.

The cancellations involved Super Air Jet with six flights, Citilink Indonesia with eight flights, Batik Air with three flights, and Garuda Indonesia with two flights.
