Batam Airport adds direct flight option to Yogyakarta

PT Bandara Internasional Batam (BIB) in the Riau Islands has officially added a direct flight option on the Hang Nadim International Airport Batam–Yogyakarta (YIA) route with Citilink Indonesia, commencing operations on Wednesday, 1 July 2026. President Director of PT Bandara Internasional Batam, Annang Setia Budhi, stated that the addition of the Batam-Yogyakarta flight option is a strategic move to expand the connectivity network, delivering direct benefits to the public and the business community. ‘This is good news for the people of Batam and Yogyakarta. Air connectivity plays a crucial role in driving public mobility, strengthening inter-regional ties, and opening greater opportunities for economic growth, trade, investment, education, and the tourism sector,’ Annang Setia Budhi said in an official statement received in Batam on Thursday. The route is served with a daily flight frequency, with a schedule departing Batam at 11:10 WIB and departing Yogyakarta (YIA) at 08:30 WIB. ‘With direct flights operating every day, we are optimistic that accessibility between the two regions will become easier, more efficient, and provide broad benefits,’ Annang added. Previously, a direct Batam-Yogyakarta flight option existed with Super Air Jet. Other available flights involved transiting at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Cengkareng before continuing the journey to Yogyakarta. Therefore, this direct flight is expected to further strengthen air connectivity between Batam City, the Special Region of Yogyakarta, and surrounding areas. The inauguration of the flight is part of the airport management’s commitment to supporting improved air transport accessibility, regional economic growth, and the development of the tourism and investment sectors.
