Basuki Responds to IKN Not Being Mentioned in 2027 State Budget Speech
The development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) was not mentioned at all by President Prabowo Subianto as a National Priority Work Programme in the Government’s Introductory Statement on the Draft Law on the 2027 State Budget at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, 14 August 2026.
Responding to this, the Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuldjono, said that the continuation of IKN development has been included in the infrastructure priority.
“I think IKN is part of infrastructure development. It does not need to be mentioned separately. I think that is his policy,” said Basuki, Saturday, 15 August 2026.
According to him, IKN development falls within the regional and village development cluster, so it no longer needs to be discussed in detail in Prabowo’s state address.
“I think in that cluster (infrastructure) there is IKN development,” he said.
Moreover, Basuki confirmed that the budget requirements for IKN development are also beginning to be met in stages, with an allocation of Rp 48.8 trillion as previously stated by Prabowo.
“It has already started since last year (2025), there was Rp 10 trillion and some change. In 2026, there is currently Rp 6 trillion, and later, God willing, there will be an additional Rp 27 trillion,” he said.
It is known that President Prabowo previously approved the budget for the continuation of IKN development for the 2025-2029 period, amounting to Rp 48.8 trillion, on 21 January 2025.
Basuki had also previously said that in the second phase of IKN development in 2028, Prabowo is targeting IKN to become the political capital.
Basuki has also been tasked with completing the construction of office and residential infrastructure for the judicial and legislative ecosystem, with a state budget requirement of Rp 48.8 trillion for the 2025-2029 period.
