Basuki Hadimuljono Shares Testimony After a Year Living in IKN

The Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, has revealed his testimony after living in IKN, East Kalimantan. He stated that he will no longer travel back and forth to Jakarta every weekend. “Top! This is it, deputy, so I said there’s no more ‘Sir, tomorrow I’ll ask permission to go home to Jakarta’ on Fridays, no more going to Jakarta. So tomorrow I’ll return to IKN to sort out my heart and mind,” Basuki said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday (30/3/2026). Basuki mentioned that the culinary scene in IKN is now varied. He noted that the pristine natural environment makes him comfortable in IKN. “There’s a lot (of culinary options), last year when I moved there during Ramadan, it was still using boxes. Now there’s Bebek Sunan. There’s already a lot, plenty,” he said. “Oh yes (the sound of birds chirping), I myself have five birds,” he added. Furthermore, Basuki provided a snippet about Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who will be working in IKN. He did not specify when, but this year the vice-presidential palace is already ready to be used. “That’s what I think is just a leak of the plan, then the preparation. For me, my house is now there, so I hope that happens, there will be, he really works there, that’s my hope,” he stated.
