Basuki Hadimuljono Says Gibran Plans to Office in IKN This Year

JAKARTA - The Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, revealed that Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming will begin working from the Nusantara Capital (IKN) starting this year. This information was also shared by Basuki when asked by the Chairman of Commission II of the DPR, Muhammad Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, during a meeting at the DPR Building, Jakarta, on Monday (30/3/2026). “There was an issue that the Vice President wants to work, any news?” Rifqi asked Basuki. According to Basuki, it is possible that Gibran will start working from IKN this year. “Insyaallah (this year),” Basuki said. After the meeting, journalists asked Basuki again. He confirmed that there is indeed a plan for Gibran to work in IKN this year. “That’s just a leak. Yes, just a plan,” Basuki said. “I think that’s just a leaked plan, then preparation. We, if my house is now there, so I hope that happens, there will be them really working there, my hope,” he said. In the same meeting, Member of Commission II of the DPR from the PDIP Faction, Deddy Sitorus, requested that Vice President Gibran Rakabuming and the ministers start working from IKN. Deddy considered this necessary so that the buildings in IKN are quickly utilised to prevent damage from not being used. He also proposed that several ministries start placing their officials to work from IKN on a rotational basis. “Or the Vice President, my friend from Gerindra said. From the beginning, I asked for that. Vice President, Minister of Forestry, Minister of Villages, Minister of Transmigration, go there to live. State money is goods. Don’t get too comfortable in Jakarta,” Deddy said in the Commission II DPR RI meeting, Jakarta, on Monday.
