The Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, Ahmad Muzani, along with the MPR leadership, visited the Nusantara Capital (IKN). This visit delighted Basuki Hadimuljono, Head of the IKN Authority.

“We truly express our thanks; this is the second visit from the MPR and the first time an institution has landed in IKN. Hopefully, it will be followed by others,” Basuki said at the IKN Authority Office in East Kalimantan on Monday (20/4/2026).

On this occasion, Basuki shared that he once felt alone in explaining the IKN development to society, which had both proponents and opponents. However, after President Prabowo Subianto and the MPR Chairman along with their entourages visited, Basuki said he is pleased and no longer feels alone.

“I am very— in my personal opinion as the Leader or Head of the Authority— if I flashback to a year ago, last year I was like alone explaining to the pro-contra society, I was alone. Then there was Perpres 79 (year) 2025, which is now in front of me,” Basuki revealed.

“Then there was the first MPR visit, I already felt, wow, that means there is now backup for me. Then there was another visit from Mr President, even more solid,” he continued.

Furthermore, Basuki said that last week Prabowo had signed off on the designs for the legislative area and the judicial area. This makes him feel that Prabowo’s involvement in IKN is now deeper.

“So that is real support for us. Today, Mr Leader and all MPR members came here, how happy we all are, Sir, that we apparently are not alone anymore,” he stated.

“So in broad terms, we have completed the first phase from 2020 to 2024 with the results we have now, the executive area. The second phase 2025-2030 will focus on the judicial and legislative, including others,” he added.
