Basuki Addresses IKN International Financial Centre Speculation, Says No Decision Yet

Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, has addressed speculation that Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) could become the location for the Indonesian International Financial Centre (PFII), emphasising that no decision has been made. Basuki stated that the determination of the PFII location is entirely the authority of the central government. “I don’t know about that. The decision on that (PFII) is with the central government,” Basuki said when met by reporters at the DPR RI building in Jakarta on Thursday, 16 July 2026. He made the statement amid ongoing discussions on the PFII Bill between the government and Commission XI of the DPR RI. Despite the uncertainty regarding the PFII, Basuki noted that IKN already has a designated financial centre area. Several banks are already present, and others are scheduled to begin construction of their offices this year. The Nusantara Financial Center is planned as part of the development of the business and financial services hub within IKN. Basuki previously mentioned that the financial centre area in IKN is being developed with a concept similar to the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) in Jakarta.
