JAKARTA - Financial education is being introduced to students through activities tailored to young people’s daily lives, including basketball and school community activities.

PT Sun Life Financial Indonesia has introduced a financial education program as part of the Hoops + Health Youth Basketball Festival 2026 held at SMA 21 Jakarta. The event targets high school students, parents, and teachers to improve understanding of financial health from a young age.

Sun Life Indonesia President Director Albertus Wiroyo said the company views health and financial stability as interconnected.

“Over 31 years in Indonesia, Sun Life believes that a healthier life and financial stability are interconnected. Through the Hoops + Health Youth Basketball Festival, Sun Life aims to provide a space for young people to actively grow, stay healthy, and build confidence, while inspiring them to create a better future,” he said in a statement on Thursday (28/5/2026).

During the festival, financial education is provided to students, teachers, and parents alongside sports and health activities. Sun Life Indonesia also renovated basketball courts at five Jakarta high schools. The company said this aims to expand access to safe and comfortable sports facilities for students and school communities.

The Hoops + Health Youth Basketball Festival 2026 also features other activities such as a 3x3 Basketball Challenge for communities, inter-school 5-on-5 tournaments, basketball coaching clinics, and games with Rico Lubis and the community.

Previously, the program revitalised community basketball courts in Depok in 2024 and supported over 30 schools through basketball equipment donations and the Hoops + Health 3x3 Basketball Challenge in 2025.

Beyond Sport representative Fred Fikouhi-Turner said basketball can build communities and create positive social impact.

“Basketball has the power to unite communities and generate positive social impact. Together with Sun Life Indonesia, we are proud to see how Hoops + Health continues to grow as a movement providing wider access to sports and healthy lifestyles for Indonesian youth,” he said.
