PT Sun Life Financial Indonesia is hosting the Hoops + Health Youth Basketball Festival 2026 at SMA 21 Jakarta as part of its 31st anniversary celebration in the country. The event aims to encourage young people to adopt healthy, active lifestyles while improving financial literacy.

The festival is a continuation of the Hoops + Health programme, which uses basketball to foster healthy habits among students and young communities.

As part of this year’s initiative, the company has renovated basketball courts at five Jakarta high schools to provide safer and more accessible sports facilities for students.

PT Sun Life Financial Indonesia’s President Director, Albertus Wiroyo, stated that the programme reflects the company’s commitment to supporting public health and youth development.

“Over 31 years in Indonesia, we believe healthy living and financial stability are interconnected. Through the Hoops + Health Youth Basketball Festival, we aim to create a space for young people to thrive actively, healthily, and confidently,” Albertus said in a statement on Monday (25 May).

The event features various activities including community 3x3 basketball tournaments, inter-school 5x5 competitions, coaching clinics, interactive games with Rico Lubis and friends, and a charity bazaar.

In addition to sports activities, the organisers have included financial education sessions for students, teachers, and parents, complemented by employee volunteering initiatives involving company staff.

The Hoops + Health programme was first launched in Indonesia in 2023 as part of a regional initiative with Beyond Sport across Asia. In 2024, the programme revitalised community basketball courts in Depok and supported over 30 schools through basketball equipment donations and 3x3 competitions in 2025.

A Beyond Sport representative, Fred Fikouhi-Turner, said basketball has the power to build solidarity and deliver positive social impacts for young people.

“Alongside Sun Life Indonesia, we are proud to see Hoops + Health grow into a movement providing wider access to sports and healthy lifestyles for Indonesian youth,” he added.

The Hoops + Health Youth Basketball Festival 2026 is open to the public and free to attend. The initiative aims to expand sports access while raising awareness of the importance of health and financial management from a young age.
