Basic and Secondary Education Minister: Transition from Part-Time to Full-Time PPPK Without Test

The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, has emphasised that the transition process for part-time PPPK teachers to full-time status will be conducted without a test.

According to Mu’ti, the transition will take place on 1 January 2027. From that date, their status will automatically change from part-time PPPK to full-time.

“The transition from part-time to full-time will be without a test. We have already requested data collection from local governments to ensure that by 1 January 2027, their status has changed,” Mu’ti stated following a meeting at Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Monday (21/7).

The Deputy Chairman of Commission X, Lalu Hadrian, noted that the transition process has been agreed upon by both the DPR and the government. According to Lalu, testing only applies to the transition from full-time PPPK to Civil Servant (PNS) status.

“They will be appointed in full without a test. There are approximately 240,000 individuals. Perhaps he used the wrong phrasing yesterday,” said Lalu.

The selection process for part-time PPPK was previously addressed by the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian. He stated that despite the existence of a selection process, the government will retain those who do not pass.

In principle, Tito said the government will provide certainty to teachers currently holding PPPK status, whether part-time or full-time.

“If they do not pass, their status will be maintained. They will not be dismissed or laid off. However, they will continue to be funded by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education through school BOS funds,” Tito remarked following a limited meeting with DPR leadership at the parliamentary complex on Thursday (17/9).
