Basarnas Requests Additional Rp1.61 Trillion for Replacement of Damaged Equipment
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Basarnas has proposed an additional capital expenditure budget of Rp1.61 trillion for the 2027 fiscal year, specifically allocated to replace and refurbish primary operational equipment that has suffered damage. Basarnas Principal Secretary Abdul Haris, during a hearing with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Wednesday, stated that fulfilling this capital expenditure allocation is extremely urgent to ensure the smooth functioning of national SAR facilities, infrastructure, and communication systems. “This additional budget of Rp1.61 trillion is the agency’s top functional priority for new procurement and replacement of SAR infrastructure, much of which is currently damaged across various regions,” he said. Haris explained that beyond the vital needs in the capital expenditure sector, Basarnas is also advocating for a specific allocation in the form of a Standby Fund (DSP) designated for emergency handling in the field. The proposed functional standby fund is projected to absorb an additional budget of Rp85.90 billion, which will be specifically concentrated on financing operations in the initial action cluster for rescuing pilgrims and the public. “The execution of SAR operations is part of Basarnas’s core business in providing emergency services. Therefore, support for this standby fund is critically needed so that team responses in the field can move quickly,” Haris stated. Regarding the regulatory discourse on fulfilling the DSP, Basarnas confirmed it has conducted tactical coordination and met directly with the Deputy for Facilities and Infrastructure at the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) earlier this week. This step of proposing additional capital expenditure and initial operational funds completes a series of proposals to address Basarnas’s budget shortfall (backlog), in order to navigate the tight indicative ceiling for 2027, which was previously set at Rp1.25 trillion. “Yesterday, on Monday, we also met with the Deputy for Infrastructure at Bappenas. We conveyed matters related to the national SAR system and the necessity for Basarnas to receive standby funds for these initial operations. We request the attention and support of the leadership and all members of Commission V DPR RI for Basarnas, thank you,” Haris said.
