Basarnas Evacuates Three Victims from Building Collapse After NTT Earthquake

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) evacuated three victims trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building following a magnitude 7.7 earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). One of the victims died, while two others were injured.

Deputy of Operations Edy Prakoso stated that the joint SAR team carried out the evacuation at the Port of Lauren Say in Maumere, Sikka Regency. The deceased victim was identified as Meliana Nong (54). All victims have been transported to T.C. Hillers Regional General Hospital in Maumere for post-mortem care and medical treatment.

Edy explained that SAR teams, including personnel from the Maumere SAR Office, are currently being deployed to the epicentre area in Nagekeo and other affected locations to expand sweeping and evacuation efforts. Basarnas is also coordinating intensively with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police to consolidate victim data and ensure rapid emergency response on the ground.
