Basarnas deploys two helicopters for 2026 MotoGP
The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has deployed two helicopters to support special search and rescue standby arrangements during the MotoGP Mandalika 2026 international racing event, according to a statement issued in Mataram on Thursday.
The head of the Mataram SAR Office, Muhamad Hariyadi, said the deployment of the helicopters and personnel was designed to ensure that safety and emergency response are handled optimally and professionally.
“We have placed two helicopters on standby, together with crews and a medical team, to ensure a rapid response should an emergency incident occur that requires Aeromedical Evacuation (EMU),” he said.
The two helicopters arrived and landed at the helipad of the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit on Wednesday (7/10) afternoon, after first carrying out route and landing-point checks, or spot checks.
The monitoring flights began with a Dauphin helicopter, registration HR-3601, which landed at the helipad of the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) of West Nusa Tenggara Province at 13.17 Central Indonesia Time (WITA) and took off again two minutes later.
It was followed by helicopter HR-3604, which landed at 13.22 WITA and took off at 13.24 WITA. Both helicopters then arrived safely at the Mandalika Circuit helipad at 13.42 WITA.
Hariyadi added that the aerial deployment formed part of Basarnas’ precautionary measures and full readiness to secure the MotoGP event, which will take place from 9 to 11 October 2026.
“With the readiness of our aerial fleet and well-prepared inter-agency coordination, Basarnas hopes that the entire MotoGP Mandalika 2026 programme can proceed safely, orderly and under control,” he said.
