Basarnas deploys five health workers to East Manggarai, NTT
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Basarnas has deployed five health workers to areas affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Basarnas Deputy for Operations and Preparedness, Edy Prakoso, confirmed from Jakarta on Friday that the deployment was carried out to strengthen basic health services and accelerate medical treatment for communities affected by the disaster.
“The deployment of health workers is part of a joint effort to ensure affected communities receive basic services quickly,” he said.
Basarnas confirmed that the health workers were transported using a Basarnas Dauphin AS 365 N3+ helicopter (HR-3604), which departed this afternoon from Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo to the Ronting helipad in Satar Kampas Village.
The five health workers, from the Makassar Port Health Quarantine Centre and the Makassar Health Crisis Centre, were then flown to the Ministry of Health’s Health Post in Damer Village, Satar Padut Village, North Lamba Leda District, East Manggarai.
The deployed health team consists of doctors, nurses, pharmaceutical staff, and administrative and logistics support personnel to facilitate medical needs at the emergency site.
In addition to evacuation support and air medical mobilisation, Edy stated that Basarnas personnel from the Maumere SAR Office, together with SAR volunteers, have been directed to intensify field monitoring and coordinate with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and local government to update casualty data and map residents’ needs.
Inter-agency synergy has also been strengthened to ensure the emergency response process and distribution of logistical aid, including assistance from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, can be delivered precisely on target.
“As of Friday afternoon, personnel from the Maumere SAR Office, together with all SAR potential elements, were reported to remain on full alert in the field, prioritising the principles of speed, safety, and integrated coordination following the earthquake,” he said.
