Basarnas Conducts Air Surveillance for Missing KM Mutiara Sentosa 2 Victims

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has conducted an aerial search of the northern waters of Sumenep Regency, Madura, East Java, using a Rescue 1301 AW139 helicopter. The operation, carried out on Thursday (6/8), aimed to locate any remaining victims of the KM Mutiara Sentosa 2 fire. Although the search and rescue operation has been downgraded to a standby phase since Tuesday (4/8), monitoring continues while awaiting verification of passenger data. Basarnas is coordinating with relevant parties to ensure a rapid response if any additional victims are reported. The helicopter was deployed from the Indonesian Navy’s (TNI AL) Juanda Air Base in Sidoarjo Regency.
