As the 2026 Eid holiday exodus approaches, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Denpasar Office has formally commenced its Special Eid Alert Operation for 2026. This action has been taken to ensure public safety and security amid anticipated increased mobility across Bali.

Through a readiness briefing held on Friday, 13 March 2026, Basarnas has deployed at least 140 personnel equipped with advanced search and rescue equipment and full operational resources. This special operation will run for 17 days, from 13 March to 30 March 2026.

Nyoman Sidakarya, Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, explained that personnel deployment is focused on strategic points serving as gateways to and from Bali.

“This operation is a strategic measure to ensure public safety. We have positioned our personnel at Gilimanuk Port, Padangbai Port, Benoa Port, and Celukan Bawang Port to oversee the crossing traffic,” said Nyoman Sidakarya.

Beyond ports, the search and rescue team also conducts intensive monitoring through mobile patrols at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and major overland routes used by returning travellers. Tourist attractions are also prioritised for monitoring, as Bali is expected to remain a primary holiday destination during the 2026 Eid period.

In response to central directives, all Basarnas technical personnel are prohibited from taking annual leave during the Special Eid Alert Operation. This ensures full personnel strength to provide rapid response should emergencies arise.

Basarnas remains cautious of the Indonesia Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency’s weather forecast indicating potential moderate to very heavy rainfall and increased sea tide levels during the Eid exodus period of 1447 Hijri.

Basarnas urges all citizens, whether returning home or tourists, to remain vigilant regarding weather changes and adhere to safety regulations on all transport modes.

Should the public encounter or experience emergencies that threaten human life, they should immediately report via Basarnas Call Centre 115. This service is available 24 hours to coordinate rapid and accurate assistance from the nearest search and rescue team.

With maximum personnel and equipment readiness, Basarnas is committed to ensuring safe, comfortable, and secure travel for all citizens during the exodus.
