Basarnas: 122 Victims of KMP Mutiara Sentosa II Fire Arrive Ashore
Surabaya (ANTARA) - A total of 122 victims of the KMP Mutiara Sentosa II fire have arrived ashore via Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya and Kalianget Port in Sumenep as of early Monday.
Head of the Surabaya Search and Rescue Office and SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) Nanang Sigit PH stated in Surabaya early Monday that 113 victims were evacuated through Tanjung Perak Port, whilst nine others arrived at Kalianget Port aboard KN SAR 249 Permadi.
“We prioritised the disembarkation of 111 survivors from the KM Meratus Pematang Siantar. They were then taken to the Gapura Surya Nusantara Terminal for medical check-ups and registration by joint officers,” he said.
According to Nanang, all victims arriving at Tanjung Perak Port underwent health examinations, with those requiring further treatment referred to hospital. At Kalianget Port, four victims were referred to Garam Sumenep Hospital, whilst five others departed for Surabaya after completing registration.
Nanang said that as of early Monday, the joint SAR team had evacuated 234 passengers, comprising 229 survivors and five fatalities, based on confirmation from all vessels involved in the operation. He added that three vessels — KM Ferindo 1, Selaras Mas, and KRI Nala-363 — are still carrying victims and are en route to Surabaya.
