The Jakarta Provincial Government has added barriers or concrete blocks to the park area beneath the Pesing flyover in West Jakarta. This action has been taken to prevent motorcyclists from performing unauthorised U-turns.

Observations at the location on Thursday (1 October 2026) showed that the addition of the concrete barriers took place around 11:00 WIB. Officers from the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-department (Sudinhub) were seen placing the additional concrete in areas frequently used by motorcyclists to turn around.

Six concrete barriers were installed, and the park area is also being repaired after being damaged by motorcycles driving over it.

Nursyam, a member of the West Jakarta Sudinhub Operational Team, stated that the closure was implemented due to the high number of motorcyclists performing U-turns. He noted that accidents had previously occurred when riders attempted to cut across the park area by turning directly from the direction of Jalan Kedoya Pesing.

“There was an accident involving a vehicle that turned here (towards the park) to cut through from there, which was dangerous because they were crossing directly into this path,” said Nurslam.

He added that the effectiveness of the additional concrete barriers will be reviewed. He expressed hope that the barriers would successfully prevent motorcyclists from making illegal turns.

“The Parks Department will later landscape the area. We will see if motorcyclists continue to cut through from there to here; if they do, we may consider installing gates using MCB (road barriers) from that traffic light to this location,” he said.
