Barli's works to be exhibited

JAKARTA (JP): Works of the prominent painter Barli Sasmitawinata will be exhibited from March 18 to 24 at the Fine Arts Building of the Ministry of Education and Culture in Gambir, Central Jakarta.

The display, staged to commemorate Barli's 75th birthday, will feature 150 of Barli's works over the past a 60 years.

First Lady Tien Soeharto is scheduled to open the event.

A book on Barli and his works by critic Jim Supangkat will also be launched at next week's opening.

Barli was born on March 18, 1921. He was one a member of the Bandung-based Group of Five with painters Affandi, Hendra, Sudarso and Wahdi. (anr)
