Barito to build pulp plant

JAKARTA (JP): Publicly listed timber producer Barito Pacific
Timber plans to set up a pulp plant in Muara Enim, South Sumatra,
authorities said yesterday.

Muara Enim regent Hasan Zen said Barito would invest about Rp
3.6 billion (US$1.5 million) in the plant.

"Construction work for the pulp plant will commence some time
next year," he told Antara in Palembang, the province's capital.

Hasan said timber for the pulp plant would be supplied by Musi
Hutan Persada, a Barito forestry subsidiary.

Musi Hutan has a 296,400 hectare forest concession in the
