Barito Pacific's sales up

JAKARTA (JP): PT Barito Pacific Timber announced a 43 percent increase in net sales in the January-March period of this year to Rp 274.06 billion (US$130.5 million) from Rp 191.02 billion in the same period of last year.

The company said yesterday the rise in the net sales was mainly due to increases in both the sales volume and prices of all products to 371,819 cubic meters at $342.98 in the first quarter of this year from 291,251 cubic meters at $310.83 in the first quarter of 1993.

The after-tax profits increased by 86.2 percent to Rp 52.09 billion in the January-March period from Rp 27.97 billion in the same period of 1993.

Increases in gross profit margins and interest revenues were the main factors in the growth of net profits.(hen)
