Barge hits ferry in Banjarmasin
Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan: The Marina Nusantara, a ferry
that was making its way to Trisakti harbor here, collided with a
barge loaded with coal at the mouth of Barito River near the
city's seaport.
Earlier, it had narrowly averted a collision with the tugboat
pulling the barge. The collision with the barge ripped about half
a meter off the front part of the ferry.
The collision caused no human casualties and the ferry, owned
by private shipping company PT Prima Vista, proceeded to Trisakti
harbor.
As the repair work took some time to complete, the ferry was
not able to keep to its schedule and depart for Surabaya on time.
As a consequence, passengers and scores of vehicles had to wait
for hours before being able to board the vessel. --Antara
