Bareskrim Uncovers Whip-Pink N2O Distribution Camouflaged as Culinary Business

The Narcotics Crime Directorate (Dittipidnarkoba) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) has revealed that the distribution of Whip-Pink brand N2O gas canisters in Jakarta was carried out through online ordering. Customers were required to fill in a complete form stating the name of their business.

“The Whip-Pink gas was distributed by requiring customers to fill in an online ordering form via WhatsApp, which had to include the name of a culinary business, address, and order quantity as a formality — a sham,” said the Director of Narcotics Crime, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, in a statement on Tuesday (28/7/2026).

Brigadier General Eko said the form was merely a ruse by the distributor company to appear professional. In reality, the perpetrators carried out no verification.

“However, PT Suplaindo Sukses Sejahtera never carried out any verification of that data whatsoever,” he explained.

Ego explained that the distribution of Whip-Pink targeted not only individual consumers but also reached night-time entertainment venues across Jakarta on a massive scale. The gas was then served in rubber balloons and sold to patrons.

“One venue manager admitted to ordering around 10 canisters of 6 kg each per month. More aggressive promotional efforts were made by uploading a ‘Buy 5 Get 1 Free’ promotion and illegally displaying the logo and name of Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) XV in Bali 2023, which triggered a firm cease-and-desist warning from the DWP organisers and was finally removed on 26 January 2026,” he revealed.

Eko said that, based on the investigation, the Whip-Pink gas canisters did not meet the distribution standards of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM). Whip-Pink did not have food additive registration.

“The pink-packaged Whip-Pink brand N₂O gas canisters were found not to meet the standards set out in BPOM Circular Letter No 2 of 2026, dated 27 February 2026, concerning the production, importation, registration, and distribution of the food additive Dinitrogen Monoxide (N2O),” he said.

For information, in this case Bareskrim named two suspects — a father and son, namely Andy Hioe and Jasen Hioe. Both have been detained since 22 July 2026.
