Bareskrim Uncovers Iranian Drug Network Lab in North Jakarta, 1 Foreign National Arrested
Jakarta - The Narcotics Crime Directorate of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has uncovered a clandestine laboratory in an apartment in Sunter, North Jakarta. Police arrested one foreign national, Saeidi Bayaz.
“This is the uncovering of a clandestine laboratory case inside an apartment linked to an Iranian-Indonesian international network,” Bareskrim Narcotics Crime Director Brig. Gen. Eko Hadi Nugroho told reporters on Sunday (15/2/2026).
The case was developed from a controlled delivery operation that led to the arrest of a suspect named Kazemi Kouhi Farzad. Unit 5 of Subdirectorate 5 of the Bareskrim Narcotics Crime Directorate discovered that Kazemi had been ordered by a fugitive named Husein, based in Iran, to meet a man named Saeidi at a kebab shop on Jalan Pramuka, East Jakarta, on Saturday (14/2).
“At 7:03 PM Western Indonesian Time, a joint team of Customs officers along with suspect Kazemi Kouhi Farzad, led by Unit 5 Chief AKBP Andi MA Mekuo, headed to the kebab shop,” Eko said.
At 7:50 PM, the joint team arrived at the location. Police successfully arrested the foreign national suspect named Saeidi.
“The team immediately apprehended the foreign national who identified himself as Saeedi. After a brief interrogation and checking the suspect’s phone, they found his residential address,” he said.
After arresting the suspect, the joint team raided his apartment on Jl Danau Sunter Selatan, Sunter, North Jakarta. At the location, clandestine lab production equipment was found.
“The team went directly to floor 27, unit 27 BD, and conducted a search accompanied by security personnel, the field coordinator’s deputy, and apartment management. The joint team found clandestine lab production equipment along with the product, namely methamphetamine-type narcotics,” he said.
The joint team then coordinated with the Bareskrim Forensic Laboratory Center. The crime scene was cordoned off with police tape and the suspect was detained for further examination.
During the search of the suspect’s apartment, police seized the following evidence:
- 4 packages containing a total of 1,683 grams (gross) of methamphetamine
- 1 mobile phone
- Passport
- 1 electrical powder grinder
- 1 portable gas stove
- 1 scale
- 3 bottles containing acetone
- 4 pots
- 1 pack of large 1 kg zip-lock plastic bags
- 1 pack of medical gloves
- 1 steam iron
- 1 roll of wax paper
- 1 plate used as a methamphetamine container
- 1 kettle
- 2 jars containing methamphetamine processing waste
- 1 leather case
- 4 sheets of leather lining
- 1 strainer
- 2 jerry cans containing acetone
- 1 shaker
- 1 suction device for residue
- 1 spray device
- 1 spatula
