Bareskrim Uncovers Circulation of Fake US Dollars in Banten, Five People Arrested

JAKARTA - Unit 1 Satresmob Bareskrim Polri uncovered a suspected criminal case involving the circulation of counterfeit United States dollars (USD) in the Banten region. In this operation, five individuals allegedly involved in the counterfeit money network were secured. Kasat Resmob Bareskrim Polri Kombes Arsya Khadafi stated that the case began with an operation conducted on Friday (1/4/2026) around 13:45 WIB in the Saung Sunda area, Telaga Lestari, Cikupa, Tangerang Regency. “The team managed to secure three individuals suspected of being brokers, with initials AS, F, and AA, as they were about to conduct a counterfeit dollar transaction,” Arsya said in his statement on Monday (20/4/2026). Based on initial examinations, the police then conducted further development. From suspect AS’s testimony, the team moved to the Rangkasbitung area, Lebak Regency, and successfully secured suspect AP, who is suspected of being the supplier of counterfeit money to the intermediaries. Further development was carried out after examining AP. The police then headed to the Balaraja area, Tangerang Regency, and arrested suspect AHS at a food stall. “From suspect AHS, we secured additional evidence in the form of one mobile phone and one wallet,” he said. All suspects were subsequently brought to the Satresmob Bareskrim Polri headquarters for further examination. The operation was led by Kanit 1 Satresmob Bareskrim Polri, Harry Azhar, along with Unit 1 Satresmob personnel. Currently, the case has been transferred to the Direktorat Tindak Pidana Ekonomi Khusus (Dittipideksus) Bareskrim Polri for further investigation. “We are still delving into the possibility of a wider network in this case,” Arsya concluded.
