JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Bareskrim Polri will soon examine the Director of PT Masempo, who is also the Chairman of the Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Chamber of Commerce, Dalle Anton Timbang, as a suspect in the illegal nickel mining case in North Konawe.

“It has been scheduled (examination of AT),” said the Director of Specific Criminal Acts (Dirtipidter) of Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni, to reporters on Thursday (9/4/2026).

However, Irhamni did not specify the date for the summons and examination of the Sultra Kadin Chairman.

“Summoning next week,” he said briefly.

The two suspects are Anton Timbang as Director of PT Masempo Dalle and MSW as the acting Director/Authorised Director of PT Masempo Dalle.

The action is based on Police Report Number LP/A/114/XII/2025/SPKT.DITTIPIDTER/BARESKRIM POLRI dated 4 December 2025.

From the results of the examination and crime scene processing (TKP), illegal nickel mining activities involving PT Masempo Dalle were found.

“Based on the investigation results, earth and nickel dredging activities outside the valid permits were discovered. During the examination, the company failed to show valid Mining Business Permits (IUP) for the operational area,” said Irhamni in his statement on Monday (16/3/2026).

Irhamni explained that the suspects are charged under Law Number 3 of 2020 on Mineral and Coal Mining.

Article 158 is applied for mining without permission, with a threat of five years imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp100 billion.

In addition, Article 161 is also applied regarding the management of illegal mining results.
