Bareskrim to Back Up Drug Case in Central Kalimantan After Officer Killed
The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) will provide full support in handling a drug case in Central Kalimantan after a Katingan Police officer, Aipda Yudhi Perdana Putra, was killed during a raid on a suspected drug dealer. Director of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated in Jakarta on Thursday that in addition to the fallen officer, two other personnel, Aiptu Sumaryanto and Bripda Nopandri Ramadhani, remain missing following the operation. He confirmed that support would be given to search for the two missing officers. Eko emphasised that every anti-narcotics operation would be evaluated to ensure all personnel are fully prepared to face any eventuality in the field. “Every enforcement action must be thoroughly prepared, from operational planning and threat mapping to personnel strength and equipment. Personnel safety is a priority without reducing firmness in eradicating narcotics,” he said. He also expressed condolences over the death of Aipda Yudhi while on duty combating drug trafficking. “May the deceased find the best place with God Almighty and may the bereaved family be given strength,” he said. The incident occurred during a raid on a suspected drug dealer in Tumbang Kalemei Village, Katingan Regency, in the early hours of Thursday. The situation escalated when several family members of the suspect allegedly resisted the officers using sharp weapons during the arrest attempt. This resistance triggered other residents to arrive at the scene, causing the situation to spiral out of control. Police personnel on duty attempted to secure themselves while bringing the situation under control. In the incident, Aipda Yudhi Perdana Putra, a member of the Katingan Police Narcotics Unit, was killed. The search for the two other missing officers is ongoing, with teams combing the incident site and the river stream. “We are currently focusing all efforts on finding the two members whose whereabouts are still unknown,” a police official said.
