Follow-up to the President’s Directive
The uncovering of this smuggling case is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s orders regarding the prevention of smuggling, which harms state finances. The directive was given by President Prabowo to TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
“Our work is still heavy, the journey is still long, leakages are still occurring, smuggling is still happening. TNI Commander-Police Chief-Finance Minister, you have institutions tasked with stopping smuggling; use all the authority you have to enforce that,” said Prabowo in his speech at the Attorney General’s Office on Friday (10/4).
He also urged other institutions at all levels to collaborate, particularly in upholding the law.
“I strongly agree that the law is an instrument to protect the nation’s and state’s wealth; without the nation’s and state’s wealth, our people cannot live prosperously. We have no choice,” he stated.
On the same occasion, Prabowo expressed happiness that his government had succeeded in saving state funds totalling Rp 31.3 trillion. Prabowo said this money was successfully saved during his leadership, which has only been 1.5 years so far.
“We are here today at the handover event for the results of financial recovery, state assets, and administrative fine collections for 2026 amounting to Rp 11,420,104,815,858, my brothers and sisters; this is an honour and joy for me that this has happened multiple times in the government I lead, which is only 1.5 years old,” said Prabowo.
