Bareskrim Stresses It Will Not Tolerate; Police Officers Involved in Narcotics Face Dismissal Without Honour

JAKARTA — The Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating narcotics crime without compromise, including against police officers involved in drug distribution networks.

Head of Bareskrim, Commissioner General Syahardiantono, said Police leadership would not hesitate to take decisive action against officers proven to be involved with drugs.

‘The Kapolri’s orders are very clear and firm: if any member dares to play with drugs, they will be dealt with decisively,’ Syahardiantono told reporters on Tuesday (19 May 2026).

According to Eko, all parties have equal standing before the law, including law enforcement officers.

‘There is no one above the law; all are equal before the law,’ said Eko.

Eko confirmed that officers proven to be involved will be subject to non-honourable dismissal (PTDH).

‘The punishment is clear: those proven involved in narcotics will be PTDH,’ he said.

Suspects are also guaranteed no special treatment during detention.

‘I assure you the process will be transparent. We apply a double sanction. After PTDH, they must face the ordinary courts as ordinary civilians. There are no special facilities; indeed their status as former officers will be an aggravating factor in court,’ he said.

Eko added that firm action against officers involved in narcotics is part of Polri’s internal reform and to restore public trust in the police institution.

‘Internal cleansing is our main capital to regain full public trust. We want to ensure that personnel who go into the field to make arrests are truly clean and have integrity,’ he concluded.

They include, among others, the former Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit at West Kutai Police Resort AKP Deky Jonathan Sasiang, linked to the illicit drug distribution syndicate Ishak, Bripka Dedy Wiratama in the Langgar Gang drug village case, and Head of Narcotics Investigation at Kutai Kartanegara Police AKP Yohanes Bonar Adiguna.

AKP Deky had already been dismissed from the Polri earlier. Deky was also brought to Bareskrim for questioning in relation to suspected money laundering (TPPU).

Meanwhile, Dedy has been arrested by the East Kalimantan Brimob unit and is being processed further. And AKP Yohanes Bonar has also been arrested by the East Kalimantan Police’s Directorate of Drug Investigation (Direktorat Reserse Narkoba Polda Kaltim).
