Bareskrim Splits PT DSI Fund Embezzlement Case into Four Clusters; Three Files Declared Complete
The Directorate of Special Economic Crimes (Dittipideksus) of the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) has divided the alleged fraud and embezzlement of funds by PT Dana Syariah Indonesia (PT DSI) into four clusters. The alleged investment scam caused losses of Rp2.4 trillion for victims.
Director of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Senior Commissioner Suhasto, said the first cluster involves three suspects: PT DSI President Director Taufiq Aljufri; former PT DSI director and shareholder Mery Yuniarni; and commissioner and shareholder Arie Rizal Lesmana.
The second cluster involves one suspect, Atis Sutisna, a PT DSI director from 2018 to 2024. The third involves an OJK (Financial Services Authority) senior official, identified by the initials FH, who served in 2017–2018.
“The case files for all three clusters have now been declared complete by the prosecutors (P21),” Suhasto said in a statement on Tuesday (20 October 2026).
Suhasto stressed that the police were not focusing solely on criminal enforcement, but also on recovering victims’ funds.
“We do not measure the success of handling the PT DSI case by how many people we name as suspects. The true measure is the extent to which victims’ rights can be restored,” he said.
“That is why we are conducting the investigation alongside asset tracing, following wherever the lenders’ money has gone,” Suhasto added.
He said law enforcement efforts would continue to pursue all parties involved, including the company. Investigators are now probing the corporation’s involvement in the case as part of the fourth cluster.
“We are also seeking to hold the corporation criminally liable. The message is clear: anyone who abuses public trust in the financial sector will be pursued all the way to the flow of the money,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sub-directorate II of Bareskrim Polri’s Dittipideksus has traced assets worth Rp500 billion. The figure is said to represent the total assets across the case as a whole.
“The case has been divided into four files, and the seized assets are attached to each file. So if the public looks at only one file, the figure will not reflect the whole picture,” said Senior Commissioner Arsal Sahban, head of Sub-directorate II at Dittipideksus.
“In total, the asset tracing carried out by the Banking Sub-directorate is worth more than Rp500 billion, and we are continuing to develop the investigation,” Arsal added.
According to an OJK examination as of September 2025, PT DSI had raised Rp11.49 trillion from 23,266 lenders since 2018. Of the Rp2.47 trillion that had not been repaid, around Rp1.87 trillion was allegedly channelled into various fictitious projects, while actual projects received only about Rp145 billion.
The suspects face charges under Articles 488 and/or 486 and/or 492 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code; Article 45A(1) in conjunction with Article 28(1) of Law No. 1 of 2024 on Electronic Information and Transactions; Article 299 of Law No. 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector; and money laundering offences.
