Bareskrim seizes truck of evidence in illegal mobile phone import case in Sidoarjo

Sidoarjo, East Java (ANTARA) - The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has seized one truck containing evidence related to the criminal act of illegal mobile phone imports in Sidoarjo, East Java, as a follow-up to the case previously uncovered in Jakarta. Director of Special Economic Crimes (Dirtipideksus) of Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak, in Sidoarjo on Tuesday, stated that investigators have conducted a search at a shop-house owned by PT TSL in Sidoarjo, East Java. “This is a development from the case in Jakarta, where two people have been designated as suspects, namely DCP alias P and SJ,” Ade said. He explained that the evidence seized from the location consists of one expedition truck filled with logistics packages. However, the contents of the packages in the truck are still being thoroughly investigated for the purposes of the inquiry. Ade emphasised that investigators do not rule out the possibility of additional suspects in the case. Previously, in the case uncovering in Jakarta, Bareskrim had conducted searches at six locations consisting of warehouses, shop-houses, and offices used as storage places for illegal import goods. From those searches, investigators seized 56,557 iPhone units valued at approximately Rp225.2 billion, 1,625 Android phone units valued at Rp5.38 billion, as well as 18,574 mobile phone accessories with a total value reaching Rp235.08 billion. “The case development in Sidoarjo is still ongoing, and we will provide updates later,” Ade stated.
