Bareskrim Seizes 56,000 Illegal iPhones Worth Rp 225 Billion in Jakarta
The Joint Task Force for Law Enforcement on Smuggling (Satgas Gakkum Lundup) of Bareskrim Polri has raided PT TSL in connection with a case of illegal mobile phone imports from China. In addition to PT TSL, Bareskrim searched five warehouses in the Jakarta area.
This disclosure represents Polri’s commitment to supporting President RI Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita Programme, particularly the seventh Asta Cita, which focuses on strengthening political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms, as well as eradicating corruption, narcotics, gambling, and smuggling. Polri subsequently formed a Task Force for law enforcement against smuggling crimes that harm the state’s wealth, through an order from the National Police Chief.
The warehouses related to illegal mobile phone imports are located at various points, including Jl Kapuk Kayu Besar in North Jakarta, a shophouse on Jalan Pluit Barat in North Jakarta, Mutiara Palem shophouse in West Jakarta, Citra Garden Housing Cluster Green Papyruss, Boulevard Raya shophouse in West Jakarta, and Toho shophouse in North Jakarta. From the searches, Bareskrim seized various brands of mobile phones.
“Seized were 56,557 iPhone units (total value Rp 225,208,000,000), 1,625 Android units (total value Rp 5,387,500,000), and 18,574 mobile phone spare parts (batteries, chargers, cables, etc.). Total of 76,756 items with a total value of Rp 235,089,800,000,” stated Brigadier General Ade Safri Simanjuntak, Director of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, in his statement on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
From witness examinations and document reviews of goods shipments, investigators have named two suspects. “The suspects are initialled DCP and SJ,” Ade said.
The two suspects have different roles. DCP acted as the importer bringing goods into Indonesia in non-new condition and without SNI certification, while SJ acted as the customer importing goods into Indonesia in non-new condition.
Bareskrim is continuing to develop the case. Today, Bareskrim raided PT TSL located in Sidoarjo.
“Today, the Special Economic Crimes Investigation Team of Bareskrim Polri conducted a search of PT TSL’s office, where investigators believe PT TSL is a holding company using several shell companies to handle illegal mobile phone import documents,” he continued.
He stated that the Gakkum Task Force of Bareskrim Polri’s Lundup, formed by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, will continue to conduct sweeps at all entry points for goods across the Indonesian Customs territory, whether by sea, land, or air, to ensure and guarantee that there are no more financial leaks to the state due to import practices using under-invoicing, undeclared, or under-accounting methods.
“Polri’s commitment to strict law enforcement against all forms of smuggling crimes to save the state’s wealth or recover state financial losses and prevent state revenue leaks is a concrete manifestation of Polri’s commitment to protecting the state’s/natural wealth, securing state revenue sources, and impartial law enforcement to support national economic resilience, which is the foundation of state sovereignty,” Ade added.
