Bareskrim of the Indonesian National Police continues to prove an uncompromising commitment to eradicating drugs without prejudice, including cases involving personnel within the police. The Chief of Bareskrim, Commissioner General Syahardiantono, stressed that leadership’s commitment would not hesitate to take swift action against any member involved in narcotics offences. ‘The Police Chief’s orders are very clear and firm: if any member dares to toy with drugs, they will be dealt with harshly,’ he said on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. Meanwhile, the Narcotics Directorate of the Bareskrim, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, said the action against several police officers involved in drugs demonstrates Polri’s seriousness in enforcing the law without prejudice. ‘No one is above the law; all are equal before it,’ he asserted. The Narcotics Directorate confirmed that the legal process for the officers in Kutai Barat, Kutai Kartanegara, and Samarinda will run in parallel using two heavy legal instruments. Those proven to be involved in drug cases will face disciplinary sanctions under professional codes of ethics. ‘The sanctions are clear: those found involved in drugs will be dismissed from service (PTDH),’ he said. Furthermore, Brigadier General Eko Hadi assured that the case investigations against the officers are conducted professionally and transparently. He also assured that those in custody are treated the same as other detainees. ‘I assure you the process is transparent. We will apply dual sanctions. After PTDH, they must face the ordinary courts as civilian citizens. There are no special facilities; indeed, their status as former officers will be a factor weighing against them in court,’ he stated. Eko Hadi added that this firm stance reflects Polri’s presence as law enforcement. The effort is also intended to restore public trust in the institution. ‘Internal cleansing is our main capital to regain full public confidence. We want to ensure that the personnel going into the field to arrest are truly clean and of integrity,’ he concluded.
