The Joint Criminal Detection Task Force for Smuggling (Satgas Gakkum Lundup) of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has raided PT TSL in connection with a case of illegal mobile phone (HP) imports. It is known that these phones were imported from China.

This revelation demonstrates the National Police’s commitment to supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita Programme, particularly the seventh pillar, which focuses on strengthening political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms, as well as eradicating corruption, narcotics, gambling, and smuggling. Accordingly, a Task Force for Law Enforcement against Smuggling Crimes that harm state assets has been established through a directive from the National Police Chief.

The raid stems from a previous search conducted by Bareskrim on five warehouses last week. These warehouses are located in the Jakarta area.

“The Joint Criminal Detection Task Force for Smuggling under the Special Economic Crimes Directorate Investigators of Bareskrim Polri has successfully uncovered the illegal importation of various brands of mobile phones,” stated Director of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Ade Safri Simanjuntak, in his statement on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

The warehouses linked to the illegal mobile phone imports are located at various points, including Jl Kapuk Kayu Besar in North Jakarta, a shophouse on Jalan Pluit Barat in North Jakarta, Mutiara Palem shophouse in West Jakarta, Citra Garden Housing Cluster Green Papyruss, Boulevard Raya shophouse in West Jakarta, and Toho shophouse in North Jakarta.

From the searches, Bareskrim seized various brands of mobile phones. One of them was iPhones.

“Seized: iPhones: 56,557 units (total value Rp 225,208,000,000), Androids 1,625 units (total value Rp 5,387,500,000), and mobile phone spare parts (batteries, chargers, cables, etc.) 18,574 units. Total: 76,756 units with a total value of Rp 235,089,800,000,” he explained.

From witness examinations and document reviews of goods shipments, investigators have named two suspects. Both are initialled DCP and SJ.

“Two individuals have been named as suspects who are responsible for the process of bringing in illegal imported goods from China,” he added.

The two suspects have different roles. DCP acted as the importer who brought the goods into Indonesia in a non-new condition and without SNI certification.

“SJ acted as the customer who brought the goods into Indonesia in a non-new condition,” said Ade.

Based on the searches, investigators conducted further developments and traced the import routes into Indonesia from China. Subsequently, investigators raided the office of PT TSL.

“Today, the Special Economic Crimes Investigation Team of Bareskrim Polri conducted a search of PT TSL’s office, where investigators believe that PT TSL is a holding company that uses several shell companies to handle documents for illegal mobile phone imports,” he continued.

He stated that the Joint Criminal Detection Task Force of Bareskrim Polri, established by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, will continue to conduct sweeps at all entry points for goods across the Customs Territory of the Republic of Indonesia, both by sea, land, and air, to ensure and guarantee that there are no more state financial leaks due to import practices involving under-invoicing, undeclared goods, or under-accounting.
